This spot is helping put the Italy back into ‘Little Italy’ here in Chicago. Davanti Enoteca is a great little wine bar serving up exceptional food. Personally I am not a fan of the logo or the exterior of the building, BUT the interior is where it is all happening. A warm and inviting space, with wonderful service and the food – OUTSTANDING! Love that the wine is sold at retail prices with a $7.00 corkage fee, you really get value for money here. All the dishes are VERY reasonably priced, I didn’t see anything on the menu over $18.00 with most things between $4 to $10 bucks. Scott Harris [Mia Francesca] and Chef Jonathan Beatty [The Purple Pig] you have a hit on your hands.
WHERE: 1359 W Taylor St, Chicago IL 60607
WHAT: Where do I start here? The mascarpone polenta + ragu of the day is a must have, a dish that you will crave the minute you have left the restaurant. Oh! The Uovo in Raviolo ‘San Domenico’ [giant raviolo + ricotta + oozy egg + spinach] for $9.00 – yes please… and then there is the white anchovies + celery + pecorino sardo + leccini olives for $4.00 – delicious. And for $6.00 the escarole + gala apple + celery + hazelnuts was tasty .. all-in-all everything was great value for money.
WHEN: This is a LUNCH and DINNER spot. Open 7 days week from 11.30am, closing at 11.30PM Monday to Thursday, midnight on Saturday and 10.00PM on Sunday – call to double-check (312) 226-5550
HOW: Dine-In || Walk-In || No Reservations

Hey R&H! I noticed your recent additions to the chicago food blog world, especially on Urbanspoon and wanted to reach out. I find it interesting how similar our tastes have been and that I too love to travel and eat. Let me know if you ever want to meet up and taste some food. Happy eating and travels,
Jeff
Great idea would love to do that!
